Nice!

Top 5 man, gratz! :D
Big ups for jumpy goodness!

Or4nges responds:

:D Much love buddy

Sweet!

Great job on this one, love your simple yet varied basslines, great samples in the beat. And I totally loved your strings! Great atmosphere man, I loved your crisp percussion.
One small point of criticism is that you could try and use a different piano. It doesn't sound real enough. Still, I loved how you pulled it off, because I loved the fact that you actually took the time to play it yourself or just change volume in distinct notes.
Your structure and melodies make it all sound really professional, all the effects were perfectly timed. I'm normally not that much into RnB, but this'll go right to my favs! :D
5/5, keep it up man!

Stavier responds:

Thanx man, I tried a different style bass rather than just some plain 808 or BooBass. Glad you liked the strings, I tried to make the composition of it good and professional. I made the percussion good since it's in RnB and usually rnb either has good percussion or simple beat. Yeah, I changed it up a lil', so it sounds more realistic. I changed a lot of the velocities, but no MIDI keyboard :P I figured if I just make SFX's timed in beats and estimate the length that it'll sound perfect. Thanx for the review, glad you liked the beat!!!

I thought I'd already reviewed this.

I kinda forgot about this song, but it was still in my favourites, and I just stumbled upon it up in the dance category :D
Anyway, love your dancey melodies, your chorus has so much activity and liveliness, It's amazing.
That, along with great bass and crisp percussion makes this a great song. It's a lot of fun and enjoyment to listen to.
Keep it up man, I absolutely love it!
5/5, once more :D

Lithorph responds:

Thanks dude! I really appreciate your reviews as you are really good at writing them.
And this just shows how bad i am at responding to reviews xD
Well, thanks alot, i will be making more music in the future, but i have to install fruity loops and everything again because i got a new computer.

Crisp!

Loved the overall sound, prog house isn't really my thing.
But still, your mastering sounds nice, I really like the panned hihats, and the small panned plucks after the last buildup sound great! I like your massive sidechain, give it a lot of feel to it.
The chord progression at the breakdown was ok, but didn't quite sound as catchy or epic as it could be. I did like it, it had great strings/pads and the progression was nice, I really liked the dorian chord, but at 2:43/2:44, there's a Major 5 dominant chord, which sound like it'd resolve in the Minor 1, gewoon het grondakkoord :P, but it switches to that major 6 (I think), it makes things a lot less catchy. Nonetheless, it's a well-thought chord progression, and it sure is better then most progressions you here in electronic music.
Anyway, props, good job, I really liked the smooth and crisp sound of the track.
Keep it up, big 5 from me! :D

Mea-Anima responds:

Hey there,

Thanks for the review, the best one i've had in a while. Yeah as for the break, i totally screwed up the pitch filter when exporting it. It should be an entire octave lower as a whole lol. Well, ill make sure to contact you when the song is done (if i will ever finish this).

Thanks again,
PotencY

Nice!

Fast paced, clear melodies and nice solos! It totally reminds me of dimrain, great work.
I love your strings, strong and fluent.
Your structure is great, not too repetitive, but still not too short in sections. Again, props on the piano solo :D
Great work, keep it up man! 5/5, fav fo sho, for your nice nostalgic dimrain sound :D

viewtifulday responds:

Thanks for the review :D Appreciate the feedback!

Sweet!

Starts out nice with those plucks, I like those :D
I like your kick and bass, nice and punchy, and your bassline is funkeh :D
I recommend two things, first of all, it's better to use different percussion for the breakbeat then your main kick and snare, choose some percussion different from you main sounds, as if you're making a dnb song for a very small section.
Secondly, I recommend that you could change your second synth melody (not the plucks) a little more along the lines of the chords. Sometimes the notes don't really fit perfectly, you could easily fix that :D
Nonetheless, great song, I loved the mastering, crisp and punchy percussion, those plucks were awesome and the lead really fit in.
5/5, keep it up man, sounds sweet!

kirja100 responds:

hah)
this melody is "hard construction" and mb sounds uncorrect :)
Thank you!!!

WUT? >:O

YOU PLAYIN MINDGAMES WITH ME SON?

Jebbal responds:

I sure am! Has the scale ended for you yet?

Thanks for the review!

Sweet!

Awesome atmostphere, loved your overall feel!
I got one thing though, when you get down to the beat at 1:25, you could use something extra in the beginning. Perhaps a pad or subtle submelody. Perhaps some small hits every now and then. Just to keep it more full and thus more interesting.
Don't have any complaints about the rest, I guess, I loved your arps, strings, pads, the piano melodies were nice and smooth, great use of filtering, your kick was crisp, clap could perhaps use some eq'ing, but it was nice nonetheless.
LOVED your pad at 3:47, awesomeawesomeawesome. I like how piano melody smootly kicks in, you really gave it a good trance feel man!
Nice going getting back to the chorus after that buildup, great work placing that piano melody in for variation! I kept being amazed by your sweeps down, they just sound so fitting.
I loved your whole buildoff, you did great how you built off the piano there in the outro, and again, great pads and strings.
Well, hardly any critics at all, I loved it, great trance atmosphere, nice instrumentation, good use of effects, great work man!
5/5, keep it up! Looking forward to hearing some more!

ZachPayne responds:

Thanks for the critique! I appreciate the honesty in there. :)
Looking back I now see that around 1:25 was indeed a bit empty as you said. Thanks for listening.

Nice use of percussion, but it could use some more

I like your hihats, they got nice subtle variation. Your kick is nice and punchy, your snare sounds crisp.
Your could add a lot of things to this song though. Try to give it more structure.
Give it a nice intro, some pads behind the piano, then you can build it up with a sweep up, towards the chorus. You could also give it a nice submelody to improve the atmosphere.
Then you could add a lot of nice things in the chorus. Try messing around with some nice synth lead melodies, a simple offbeat bass and and offbeat hihat. The solo's could really be nice in a mid section or breakdown. After that, you can go back to your chorus, perhaps add a little something extra, pads or arps and then after that you can build off in the outro.
I really like your melodies and solo's and your percussion is fine. Your song could just use some more structure and instrumentation.
Good job man, keep it up!

Longenuity responds:

Perfect. Review. Thanks so much! I will get started on building this up into an actual song.

Nice!

Great man!
Despite the cheesy chord progression in the beginning, you managed to be very original!
First of all, your snare has this weird oldschool 80's 90's feel to it, I loved that!
Then your leads are nice and videogame-ish and I loved your melodies.
The dubsteppy breakdown in the beginning was a nice touch. The bass was not extremely cut out for the thing, but it still sounded really cool.
I totally loved your sidechaining later on in the song. It gave it a totally awesome feel, especially how it sounds without a kick.
Anyway, awesome oldschool sound, loved the feel, awesome melodies. Great to hear amazing music like this from a fellow dutchman! :D
5/5, Fav, keep it up man! Lovin' it!

JackLiddle responds:

I'm not dutch, but thanks a lot! I haven't gotten a review that long in a while. :P
This is the first song I've made using sidechaining as I only just recently learned how to do it. I've never been a huge fan of this generic dancey-ish kick beat, and I can't often think of ways to make it sound good, but I figured with the whole sidechaining thing, this was a good opportunity to give it a go.

Your review is much appreciated ^^

I'm an amateur producer that loves melodic music! :D I don't actually give a crap if your mastering is half-assed, as long as it's audible and it's made with some good knowledge of music! :D However, awesome mastering is always a nice extra, right? :D
