Damn!

Love that warm subby bass from the kick! Your synths are great as always!
Amazing mix, great structucture.
However, I still think Oblivion is your best :D
Nonetheless, great work man! Props!

weemeee responds:

Thanks man! Appreciate it, and yeah i agree i like oblivion quite a bit aswell :P

Nice!

I really like your beat, especially the rides. It just sounds really crisp.
Everything sounds great, well-mixed and well-mastered. Just one thing is that I'm missing a sub. I mean, the intro could do fine without the subbass, and the same goes for breakdowns, and sometimes the outro. But I was really waiting for that chorus moment where the awesome and deep sub kicks in. Even though it's liquid, it doesn't mean it doesn't need any bass.
Anyway, that's just my personal opinion. I really loved pretty much everything though. Keep it up man, love it!

OfficialRoflMonster responds:

Forgot to mention that this is a work in progress. Notice why it's short and repetitive. Thanks for the feedback, I'll add in the chorus with some sub bass.

Sweet!

I really liked the high frequency glitchy beat, in contrast with the deep deep deep bass! :D
But you should really come up with a better title :P
Is this a WiP? Because the length of the song is questionable.
Nonetheless, it's really crisp, great mix and awesome mastering!

culmor30 responds:

Nah, not a WIP. I was practicing with some new mastering tools and I'm really, really bored of listening to this now XD

Nice!

I like the melodies, and the chord progression is really nice as well. It's not such a small 4 chord progression, I like that. It does feel like it needs a little more, especially around the middle, where theres a nice burst of energy. Perhaps an extra lead. However, if you do create an extra lead, be sure that you don't give it too much noise, theres a lot of high frequencies on the bass and chords already.
Anyway, I like your bass, the kick sounded nice, but I do think that you could use some more percussion overall. Just giving it a little more energy.
Anyway, the concept is great, 5/5, keep it up man!

.... :D

Crisp

I really liked your percussion, great crisp sound!
Your melodies were fun, but because the lead was in thirds, it kinda sounds too random along the way. I don't know, it could just be my opinion, I'm not that much of a fan of leads with an extra third or fifth layerd on top (like in most DnB). BUT, I do like your mix a lot. You've got some sweet sound. It's pretty much the whole song, the mix and mastering sounds great! Percussion (gawd that snare), synths, effects, really nice. It's just the melody I'm not quite sure about.
Anyway, great work, 5/5, keep it up man!

Qelaion responds:

Ahah, you caught me :P Thing is, I'm a sucker for layered thirds for some reason, that's why I used them for just about every. Single. Chord. xD

And I'm not gunna lie, this isn't mastered yet. I might add a bunch of stuff to this song >:D

Anywho, thanks for the review!

Great!

I really like the arps, the sound was really soothing.
In the intro your build is kinda slow, you could slowly add some percussion next time. You have to keep in mind that trance is a very percussive genre. Loved how you slowly introduced more synths. And your breakdown is great, great atmosphere!
So the only thing you have to do to make this song a big 10 stars is by slowly adding some subtle percussion (eg open/closed hihats, clap on the afterbeat) along the build and then create a bigger burst after the build, to create more atmosphere. But be sure not to make it too loud, especially the hihats. It will be to messy and noisy. So you gotta carefully tweak around with the volumes until you get the right balances.
So all you need on the percussion is a nice not-too-loud open hihat, some subtle closed hihats and a firm but controlled clap on the afterbeat (the second and the fourth kick). Try to EQ pretty much all of those, so you can work the percussion into your own perfection. The more mixer channels, the more work, but mostly the better the sound is.
And if you've improved some more, you can even try to create a good firm side-chained rolling bassline, a famous trademark in trance. But be careful with those, because it's freakin' hard to create, and an offbeat bass (like you have here) will do fine as well.
Anyway, I've already talked too much, great song, I really loved your synths and melodies, great atmosphere. So you could turn up the amount of percussion some more!
Keep it up man, great work! :D

ReWired responds:

Thanks for the great review. I agree that adding a high hat and clap would accent the song nicely and make it less repetitive. Ill go back and add those in as well as take a look at adding a rolling bassline. I hope you keep reviewing my future songs. Your advice is very helpful.

Excellent!

It's great, I love video game music that gives a nice atmosphere. I love your orchestral instruments combined with your world percussion. Great xylophone/marimba melody! I really love the slides in the beginning in the end of the loop. It's really suitable for a map theme, great atmosphere man!
Great work, 5/5, keep it up man!

MyVGworld responds:

thanks!

Nice work, great synths!

I really like your synths, they sound really catchy.
Just a few flaws I'd like to point out in my opinion.
In the start, it's fine if you use that sidechain and then kick in the beat later, but the way it is now, the 4 kicks then back, it just sounds rather confusing. You might wanna just throw it in a little later, or just introduce it with a filter.
Also, although your synths sound really awesome, your song still sounds rather empty at the drop. It could also be the fact that the synths don't perfectly blend together. Perhaps you could do some volume tweaking with your synths?

Oh, and you should probably add a sidechained sweep down at the drop, it would give the song a lot more body and power.

Anyway, I really love your melodies, and although you've used the progression quite a lot of times (I recommend trying to experiment with other progressions, it's rather repetitive), I really like your synths. I just recommend to try and work some things out with the mix or the mastering to make it blend a little more.

Nonetheless, nice job, 5/5, keep it up man!

kirja100 responds:

Thank you, Bro :DDD

Great work man!

I don't really see much jazz here on newgrounds, so this is a plus!
But man, Stella is a really hard standard, kudos man! Loved it!
Great work, 5/5, going to my favs!

LiquidEcstacy responds:

Thanks :) It's not that bad of a standard. It's pretty odd in 7/4 though. Lots of energy.

CRISPYCRISP

Haha, I'll just drop another review on this one! :D

I WUB DIS <3

And for everyone that's about to vote zero, keep in mind that this is about a million times better then your own shitty song. >:D

PEACE >:[

Or4nges responds:

More crispy bacon! You sir are flattering as hell and obnoxiously hilarious xD

*Disclaimer* His 3rd paragraph is not necessarily the feelings of the author. :P

I'm an amateur producer that loves melodic music! :D I don't actually give a crap if your mastering is half-assed, as long as it's audible and it's made with some good knowledge of music! :D However, awesome mastering is always a nice extra, right? :D
